Summer 2024 Update

The Junior club has finished for the year as we are now into the summer and shall return in September. There is going to be a change in personnel in terms of how the junior club is managed but the coaching sessions will still run in the same format.

The summer club continues to run with solid numbers every week, we have had enough players for all 4 courts every week no issue, hopefully this continues to the end of August before the new season starts up again.

Team Results for last season;- The Mens A team after a poor start had finished strongly and finished 2nd in the League and may be promoted to the top division. The Mens B had finished 7 out 8 in the division and that they had shown improvement towards the end of the season. The Doubles team had finished mid table with a rush of wins at the end of the season.

Coronavirus Update 12/06/20

Unfortunately, we are still unable to provide any information as to when we will be able to begin running our club nights again. We are going to have to wait for the Caroline Chisholm Sports Hall to open and as yet we have no idea when that will be.

We have been looking at the various Government and Badminton England (BE) pronouncements and seeing what we can glean from them, of which there has been a lot of speculation but little specific guidance.

As we are sure you can appreciate, there are still lots of unanswered questions at the moment but your Committee are checking out every pronouncement and we will certainly let you know as soon as things change.

Stay safe and please keep an eye out for further updates.

Coronavirus Update 18/03/20

Dear all, due to the current advice from the government, regarding Covid-19, we have made the decision to postpone both the Junior and Senior Friday night club sessions until mid-April, when the situation will then be reviewed again.

This follows the postponement of the Northampton Badminton League matches and has been made with the safety of our members as the priority.

Stay safe and please keep an eye out for further updates.

Men’s B vs Apollo B (3-6)

Some close games which unfortunately had the team coming out on the wrong side of the result.

A fantastic recovery from Pawel and Chris after losing an end 28-26 to then comeback and with that game overall. A good performance from the youngsters who really forced the opposition to be on form. Debut from Matt J who stepped up and was able to hold his own against tough opposition.

Mixed vs Duston (6-3)

First win for our mixed team last week in the return match against Duston. It was keenly contested with many of the matches being taken to three ends and very close scores.

All pairings showed great determination and played really well. A fantastic, well-deserved result that may save us from relegation!

Match Results Xmas Period

Doubles vs Duston: 6-3

Men’s A vs Pyghtle: 4-5

Ladies vs Thrapston: 0-6

Mixed vs Kettering: 0-9

Mixed vs Towcester B: 0-9

Ladies vs Apollo: 5-1

Mixed vs Towcester B: 0-9

Ladies vs Market Harborough: 5-1

Doubles vs Towcester C: 3-6

Mixed vs Towcester A: 0-9

Doubles vs Pyghtle 0-9

The reverse fixture of the first match of the season for the doubles team was met with fierce opposition. Despite all of the games being close we found ourselves on the wrong side of each and finished losing 9-0. Unlucky to those who played and hopefully a better result in the next match.

Ladies vs Market Harborough (3-3)

Our ladies team travelled up to Market Harborough last week for their match. The games were very close and everyone was playing well.

After all the games had been played the score was a draw, 3-3. Unfortunately, to settle the match, it came down to games, from which we lost 6-7.

It was a super close game and we are determined to shift the balance our way at the return match and get the win.

Well played team!
